For Manchester United, this was a night to forget! But sadly I won't. It will be in my mind until we beat them again this convincingly and going by our club's recent history I can't forget this soon enough.
Right from the moment the telecast went live when both the players were in their warmups I could see a sense of aggression in Chelsea players. Their old manager was coming back to their backyard and they want to show him what they have become. And boy it they show him that! They hammered Manchester United in such a way that they could feel sorry for themselves for being on the pitch.
Louis Van Gaal, the man whom even I criticised would be laughing at us all now. The man really did a wonderful job in all these big games. We didn't lose this badly to City and Chelsea. Atleast we knew what we were going to get! He was a nice man to be honest. But such is the pressure of Manchester United manager that people couldn't handle defensive tactics and draws. But they see Mourinho drawing against Liverpool as a tactical genius. I really could not understand this. I did not like LVG's tactics then and I don't like Mourinho's defensive tactics against Liverpool now. We are Manchester United and we should always be in one mode: BEAT THE OPPOSITION TO DEATH.
This match was really painful to watch as a Manchester United fan. Unless we get rid of Fellaini from Manchester United we are going to suffer. I don't have any personal grudge with him but he is not a Manchester United player material. I cannot see him contributing anything to the team apart from winning a few headers and passing the ball square and backwards. He is slow, not creative and gives fouls awkwardly which is un-manchester united! I really hope Mourinho sees this atleast now. Another player which I would like to talk about is Pogba. Paul Pogba was bought for a world record fee for doing a certain job: to take the ball from the middle of the park and get the ball forward towards the opposition goal and drive the strikers with him into the penalty box. You cannot expect him to do defensive duties all the time. For that to happen you need to have a reliable partner beside him and not Fellaini who cannot string a few passes together.
The play both in the first half and the second half was garbage by Manchester United to be honest apart from Antonio Valencia. He was the one person whom I saw on the pitch with the determination to cover the ground running backwards and forwards whenever he had the ball. And the final scenes where United players were smiling and exchanging shirts with Chelsea players added salt to the wounds.
Finally, I want to express my opinion about the atmosphere which the home fans created at Stamford Bridge. It was exceptional. They were damn good! They were the 12th man for Chelsea today. And congrats to Antonio Conte for building the team up from the bottom of last year. I do not have much hope for Manchester United as of now. One thing that's clear to me is that Jose doesn't know his best eleven and that itself is a big problem. They may win against low level teams and next morning the papers will sing again that they are contenders for the title but today I decided that we are not going to win it. It really pains me to say this as a Manchester United fan but we are in such a state at present. We do not have a particular style of play to be identified with. Liverpool have one after the arrival of Klopp, City have one after the arrival of Pep, Chelsea have one after the arrival of Conte but I can't see one with United. Unless Jose learns from his mistakes and learns, we are not going to change. I am not better than Mourinho at telling him what to do but its high time he did some introspection.
As a precaution, I am neither "Mourinho IN" nor "Mourinho OUT". I'm just "BRING BACK THE OLD SWAGGER OF US".
